Cheap rice to urban poor
Manila: Filipinos bought subsidised rice sold from a truck in Quezon City, east of Manila, on Thursday.
The National Food Authority is looking to increase mobile stores in a bid to help consumers struggling to cope with the rising prices of rice in the market amid reports of a shortage.
President Gloria Arroyo has also announced plans to directly sell cheap rice in urban poor communities in view of the chaotic scenes witnessed at public markets.
