3,500 hotel jobs available for Filipinos in Croatia: Official

Manila: About 3,500 job opportunities are open for Filipino hotel workers in Europe, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced following a government-to-government agreement with Croatia.

At a press briefing, Migrant Workers Undersecretary Patricia Yvonne Caunan confirmed the development, emphasising the Philippines' expanding labour partnerships with European countries.

According to Caunan, the initial batch of 3,500 job orders will be processed under the government-to-government programme, with no placement fees.

The programme’s final guidelines are being finalised, but Croatian employers have already indicated an urgent need for workers by late April and May, aligning with the summer season.

Filipinos with experience in housekeeping, food service, and front desk operations may apply directly through the DMW’s Pre-Employment and Government Placement Bureau.

In addition to Croatia, the DMW has also secured labor agreements with Slovenia and Hungary.

Caunan stated that salaries in Croatia start at 1,000 euros, while caregivers in Slovenia can earn between 1,500 and 2,500 euros.

A monthly salary of 1,000 euros is approximately PHP62,000.

To prepare workers for these opportunities, the DMW is working with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to provide skills training.
