Dubai: A video from 2012 has resurfaced on twitter and tweeps are asking Bollywood actor Aamir Khan if he will be visiting Pakistan soon.

Why?

Back in 2012, when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was a guest at a media event in India, Aamir said: “When you win the elections, I will come to Pakistan to celebrate your victory. And I will bring a lot of Indians with me.”

This was caught on camera by several news channels and today, the video is being shared on twitter by Pakistanis. Imran’s PTI emerged as the single largest party in the National Assembly in the July 25 polls, and he is all set to take oath as the Prime Minister of Pakistan on August 11. His party is, however, short of numbers to form its government independently. But, that isn’t stopping tweeps from asking Aamir if he will be keeping his promise.

Tweep @Shahg2221 wrote: “@aamir_khan on August 11 Imran Khan will be taking oath as the #PM of Pakistan. Hope you will come and join his oath taking cermony.”

@iamKhawaja246 tweeted: “@aamir_khan would you be coming to Pakistan now that Imran Khan has won the elections?”

@EsharatQ tweeted the video and wrote: “@aamir_khan #Pakistan is waiting. Let the #celebrations begin @ImranKhanPTI.”

One tweep even wrote to actor Ali Zafar, requesting him to pass on the message to Aamir.

@247Saif tweeted: “@AliZafarsays Sir you have contacts with all Bollywood stars. Please give this message to Mr Aamir Khan that Imran Khan has won the elections and now Aamir Khan should fulfill his promise and come and celebrate with us. Pakistanis are eagerly waiting to welcome him.”

Zafar immediately complied. On his twitter account, @AliZafarsays, he posted: “@aamir_khan I think it’s time :).”

While Aamir is yet to respond to the various requests that are being sent his way on Twitter, tweeps continue to post the video and commend him for his words.

Tweep @My_Exiled_Soul posted: “Will Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan keep his promise of visiting Pakistan? Keenly waiting For Aamir Khan’s reply.”

In the video, Aamir is also heard praising Imran’s vision for Pakistan.

He says: “The ideology that you preach, the dream that you have for Pakistan, I pray that you succeed in it. I hope to see a government in Pakistan, which will actually solve the problems faced by the country. This won’t just be good for the residents of Pakistan, but for all of us present here. And I know that you will be successful because you have been struggling for years.”
