Karachi: A doorbell will soon be installed at the main gate of Sindh Governor House to help anyone seeking speedy justice from midnight to dawn.

Sindh Governor, Kamran Khan Tessori, told the audience at a public Eid get-together on the lawns of the Governor House, that his plan to install the doorbell would particularly benefit women facing oppression in any form.

He said that any woman after facing violence or brutality shouldn’t feel helpless as she should come straight to the gate of the Governor House and ring the doorbell to get speedy justice from him.

Tessori said the installation of the doorbell would caution rest of the authorities that they had to serve justice in the case of aggrieved citizens without any delay as otherwise the complainants would come to the Governor House to involve the Governor for inquiring into their issues and get speedy justice.

Apart from Tessori’s idea to install a doorbell, a call centre having the contact number 1366 is also functional at the Governor House for receiving complaints from the public via telephone against the service of different state and government agencies.

Tessori made the latest announcement about the doorbell after the Governor House hosted Iftar receptions for the public throughout Ramadan. A total of 300,000 people attended these receptions during the holy month.

A spokesman for the Governor House said that people who attended the Iftar receptions submitted some 70,000 applications to Tessori for seeking his help to resolve their issues. The people also submitted 17,000 bills for the gas utility at the Governor House as they didn’t want to pay the same either due to inflated billing or no gas supply at home during Ramadan.

The Governor during Ramadan also visited a number of residential localities in Karachi for having a Sehri meal on each night of Ramadan for direct interaction with the residents of the city in order to know their grievances firsthand. On some nights of Ramadan, Tessori visited two different localities of Karachi one after another.
