Karachi: President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that living conditions in Karachi will improve in three years’ time as both the federal and Sindh government will cooperate with each other and do hard work to implement the newly unveiled Rs 1100 billion development package for the city.

Alvi who is also a native of Karachi stated this as he made a rare appearance alongside Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Sindh Governor Imran Ismail at the Mausoleum of Founder of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah on the occasion of his 72nd death anniversary.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on September 05, 2020 announced historical Rs 1100 billion development package for Karachi for which both the federal and Sindh governments will provide fiscal resources.

The President said on the occasion that he had requested both the Sindh CM and Governor to maintain cooperation with each other over the period of three years and do the hard work to lessen the miseries of people of Karachi.

Alvi said that he would like to dispel the reservations of the people about the newly announced Karachi development package. He said that both the federal and Sindh governments were under obligations to cooperate with each other to implement this package in three years’ time.

He said that the government with the grace of God was able to overcome the situation of coronavirus emergency in the country.

Prime poverty

The president said that the government had acted upon its prime poverty alleviation initiative “the Ehsaas programme” to help out the deprived people in the country.

He appreciated that the concerned philanthropists had also come into action to help the country during the difficult time of coronavirus emergency.

He said that the doctors and para-medical staff had also shown courage while performing their duties during the COVID-19 health crisis.

The president appreciated that the concerned citizens had shown discipline during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the concerned media and religious scholars had also played their part in creating useful awareness among the masses in this regard.

“Pakistan’s success against the coronavirus emergency is a unique success. An opinion is prevailing in different countries that a lot could be learned from the Pakistani nation in this regard,” said the president.

He said that Pakistani nation was ready to join the community of most successful nations around the world.

“If we all get united to build this country for the sake of materializing the dream of Quaid-e-Azam then there would not be left any reason that Pakistan is left behind by any other nation,” he said.

The President on the occasion laid floral wreath, prayed at the grave of the Founder of the Nation and also paid homage to him by recording his views in the visitors’ book.
