Bollywood reacts to Kangana Ranaut's property under attack in ‘Pakistan occupied Mumbai’

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is no stranger to controversy. After the June 14 death of Sushant Singh Rajput, she’s come out with allegations of nepotism and drug cartels in Bollywood, causing quite a furore in the Indian movie industry. She’s also made a number of statements about her freedom of speech being curtailed and gone so far as to compare Maharashtra’s government to the Taliban and Mumbai to "Pakistan Occupied Kashmir". It’s safe to say she’s made a number of enemies.

In however what is been largely seen as a tit-for-tat move, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) first issued a notice and then began to demolish Ranaut office in Mumbai, citing illegal construction. Not to be deterred, the ‘Manikarnika’ star went on record warning Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over the move. In a video clip, Ranaut is heard saying in Hindi: "Udhhav Thackeray, do you think that you along with the film mafia broke my house and took big revenge? Today my home is broken, tomorrow your ego will be broken. This is the wheel of time. Remember this." Actress Ankita Lokhande, who made her Bollywood debut in ‘Manikarnika’, a shared a picture of Kangana from their film and wrote a powerful message for her. “BRAVEHEART ❤️ Exorbitant love & More Power to you 💪🏻 @kanganaranaut,” Lokhande wrote.

Actress and environmentalist Dia Mirza also took a stand in the matter. She tweeted: “I don’t agree with many of the things Kangana has said in the last few months. The name calling, the vicious personal attacks on individuals, the vilification of people. At the same time i am not okay with her being subjected to personal attacks.”

Actress Renuka Shahane, who recently took at dig at Ranaut over her comment on Mumbai being unsafe, too voiced her opinion in support of the actress. Requesting for the state chief minister’s intervention in the matter, she tweeted, “Though I do not like @kanganateam’s comment comparing Mumbai to POK I am appalled by the revenge demolition carried out by @mybmc You do not have to stoop so low. @CMOMaharashtra please intervene.
