Sharif says the scheme will be implemented strictly on merit
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the distribution of 100,000 free laptops among talented students across Pakistan, pledging that the scheme will be implemented strictly on merit.
Speaking at an International Youth Day event in the capital, the prime minister said the laptops would be distributed with “no nepotism” involved. He noted that this initiative would be separate from the government’s interest-based loan scheme for laptops.
In his address, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood said various merit-based initiatives had enabled thousands of talented and deserving students to pursue their education and careers. He cited the Pakistan Education Endowment Scheme, the Pakistan Daanish Authority and the prime minister’s earlier laptop programme as examples.
Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Kesoo Mal Kheal Das highlighted the contributions of Pakistan’s minority communities to the country’s progress and development.
