One year on, Pakistan remembers victims of massive earthquake
Muzaffarabad: A minute's silence was observed in Pakistan on Sunday to mark the first anniversary of a massive earthquake that killed more than 80,000 people across Pakistan and India.
Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf led a somber memorial service in Muzaffarabad, one of the cities worst hit by the earthquake.
At least 1,000 people joined him at the grounds of the Azad Jammu Kashmir University, which was destroyed in the earthquake.
More than 100,000 people were wounded and 3.5 million left homeless when the 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck across northern Pakistan and in Kashmir.
Hundreds of memorial services were being held across Pakistan to mark the disaster.
Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz are expected to travel throughout the northern Pakistan to attend ceremonies.
I am from District Bagh Azad Kashmir. The October 8th earthquake indeed destroyed most of Azad Kashmir.

A general THANK YOU should go out to all those who helped out during this time. It's a great loss and a tragic event. Im just wondering what's being done to help predict when another one will happen instead of just letting it happen and seeing it all over again. Allah bless those who lost their lives that day...

I am from Azad Kashmir. We can not forget October 8, 2005. The earthquake has destroyed our four districts, putting us back 30 years. But the people of Kashmir are very brave. They faced this very difficult situation and tried to rebuild their lives. We all pray for all those were killed in the earthquake. As a Kashmiri I would like to say thanks to the world and the UAE for their help.
