Pakistan’s naval and air force chiefs yesterday urged India to observe restraint along the borders, saying all three forces were ready to brace any kind of escalation.
Air Marshal Sohail Aman, the chief of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), talking to the media at the sideline of a defence exhibition said, “It is better for India to remain restrained.”
“We are ready to meet any kind of eventuality,” he said.
He was visiting the International Defence Exhibition and Seminars (Ideas), a biennial event, that allows dozens of companies from all across the world to exhibit their military hardware with an aim to market those products.
The air chief said India must pay attention to the resolution of the Kashmir issue. He further said the PAF had been watchful over the regional situation, in the aftermath of the Uri attack in Indian-administered Kashmir.
He was referring to the frequent cross-border exchange of gun, mortar and artillery fire with India in the past several months, in which dozens of Pakistani civilians and military personnel have been killed.
During his visit, Admiral Zaka Ullah, chief of Pakistani Navy said that the matter of the Indian submarine was quite extraordinary.
Last week, Pakistan’s Navy said its units chased off an Indian submarine that was encroaching into Islamabad’s territorial waters in the Arabian Sea, with the alleged purpose of reconnaissance.
Earlier, the PAF chief said aeronautical companies were making Mashak training aircraft for Nigeria and Qatar.
Besides, the PAF also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with its French counterpart to jointly work on Pakistan’s JF-17 aircraft.
The security chief further said PAF was forging good relationships with armies of friendly countries, as well as strengthening the aircraft manufacturing in the country.
