Expect flight delays as passengers are advised to check flight schedule with airlines
Dubai: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has dismissed reports claiming that Islamabad International Airport would be closed for eight consecutive days, clarifying that only short, scheduled pauses in flight operations will take place to facilitate Pakistan Air Force (PAF) rehearsals for the Independence Day air parade.
According to officials, the temporary suspensions are designed to ensure air traffic safety while PAF fighter jets conduct practice flypasts. Each disruption will last approximately two hours.
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the PAA outlines the affected windows for civilian air traffic: August 11–14: No arrivals or departures from 11am to 1pm
August 11–13: Additional closure from 8pm to 10pm
During these intervals, the capital’s airspace will be dedicated to military aircraft, and civilian flights will be temporarily halted. Outside of these specified time slots, operations will continue as usual.
The NOTAM also advises airlines and pilots to exercise heightened caution during these rehearsal periods.
Passengers are encouraged to confirm their flight status with their airline prior to traveling to the airport to avoid delays or confusion.
