Dubai: Emirates has bowled Pakistan's legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram a yorker.
Akram thought he had bowled a bouncer to Emirates. But the duel was won by the Dubai-based airline.
Here's the long and short of the story: Pakistan’s iconic cricketer could not believe how fast Emirates delivered his "precious" watch he reportedly lost on-board a flight from Karachi to Dubai.
“Lost my watch on Flight EK 605 seat 10a KHI-DXB. I am now following @emirates. Please have someone contact me ASAP as I have exercised all customer service points in Dubai and do not feel comfortable that enough has been done. This watch is a family heirloom,” tweeted Akram on January 7.
Emirates' support team swung in to action, and tweeted back asking Akram to send them more details and the description of the watch.
“Hi Wasim, please DM us the description of the watch along with your flight details and email address. We’ll check on this with our Lost and Found Team and let you know. Thanks,” Emirates Support tweeted on January 8.
Emirates found Akram’s watch and delivered it to him in Melbourne, Australia — within three days.
Akram was surprised when he received a call from Emirates in Australia, and in so short a time.
He then tweeted to thank Emirates saying that he could not be happier.
Customer for life
“Massive thank you to @emirates @EmiratesSupport for such and incredible follow up, I have received my watch here in Australia and couldn’t be happier. You have a customer for life in me,” he tweeted.
Emirates support team replied: “Thanks for the awesome review, Wasim. We’re glad to hear the watch is back in your hands. Looking forward seeing you again on board.”
Emirates website says: “If you’ve lost a piece of your property on-board one of our aircraft, please contact the lost property office at the airport where your flight landed. You can also check our complete list of airports serving Emirates flights to find out the contact details of the airport where you landed. The customer service agents there will be able to help you.”

What is a yorker?
In cricket, a "yorker" is a ball bowled (a delivery) which hits the cricket pitch around the batsman's feet.
Yorker is a delivery that lands on the pitch at the popping crease — which makes it difficult for the batsman to defend it with a normal batting stance (called Bixing) and the ball, more often that not, leaves the stumps rattled.
