COVID-19: Pakistan starts registering details of citizens vaccinated abroad

Islamabad: Pakistani nationals who have been vaccinated abroad can now get their immunisation record registered with the country’s national database by sharing their details with the National Immunisation Management System (NIMS).

This was announced by the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan’s nodal body responding to COVID-19 situation in the country.

By registering with the NIMS, they can also get their vaccination certificates, the NCOC announced.

“Starting from today, all Pakistani citizens who have got their vaccine administered from abroad can get their immunisation records registered in NIMS through http://nims.nadra.gov.pk and get COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate,” the NCOC posted on its official twitter account.

The United States is delivering a third batch of 3.7 million Pfizer doses as part of “ongoing solidarity with the people of Pakistan.”

This has been announced by the US Embassy in Pakistan claiming the current tranche is in addition to the 5.5 million doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine delivered to Pakistan. We stand by the people of Pakistan as they recover from this devastating pandemic, said the embassy in a tweet on Thursday.

In another tweet, the embassy gave further details that since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic the US had delivered $63 million in COVID-19 assistance through its partnership with the Pakistani government.

“Together, we will continue to build a world that is safer and more secure against the threat of infectious disease,” it said.

Pakistan’s COVID-19 cases continue to go up steadily side by side with its vaccination drive as on Thursday, the NCOC reported 4,553 new cases of COVID-19 against 61,446 tests for COVID-19 conducted in the last 24 hours.

The country’s toll caused by COVID-19 climbed to 25,320 on Thursday after 85 fatalities in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 positivity rate in the country was recorded at 7.4 per cent while there were 92,244 active cases of COVID-19 in the country, according to the NCOC.

On Thursday again, Pakistan reported administering more than 1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses across the country during the last one day.

The total number of vaccines administered so far was 49,883,211.

A day earlier, Pakistan had reported 141 deaths from COVID-19 during the last 24 hours — the highest number of fatalities since May 3 when the country reported 161 deaths.
