Patna: A gang rape victim in Bihar was assaulted again by her attackers after she registered a case against them.

The police are now conducting raids to nab the culprits.

According to the victim, she was alone in her home when three men forcibly entered broke in and gang-raped her. The incident took place at a village that falls under the Narkatiaganj block in West Champaran district on December 17.

The next day, the victim rushed to the local police station and registered a case against her rapists. Soon after the case was registered, the men began threatening her with dire consequences, asking her to withdraw the case, but she refused.

Reports said on Saturday night, the men again barged into her home and gang-raped her at knife-point, apparently to “teach a lesson”. She again reported the matter to the local Shikarpur police.

“We have taken the matter very seriously and are conducting raids to nab the absconding accused persons. They will be caught very soon,” a police official Jitendra Prasad told the media on Monday.

Last month, a teenage girl was killed after being gang-raped in the same West Champaran district. The victim went out to attend nature’s call when four men caught her, dragged her inside a dense sugarcane field and then gang-raped her. The men then killed strangling her to death with a scarf.

According to an official report, a total of 1,065 incidents of rape have been reported until August this year, which mean at least four girls are raped every day in the state. Last year, a total of 1,198 incidents of rapes were reported, followed by 1,008 incidents in 2016, 1,041 in 2015, 1,127 in 2014 and 1,128 in 2013.
