Inebriated man had enthusiastically embraced the cop on duty during a festival procession
Hyderabad: Hyderabad police have arrested a youth who kissed a sub-inspector during a religious procession to mark the Bonalu festival.
The inebriated youth, P Bhanu, had been dancing with others as music played during the Bonalu procession. Then he suddenly jumped on a sub-inspector on duty, tightly embraced him and planted a kiss on his cheek, leaving him startled and embarrassed.
Bhanu was arrested on Monday and produced in a local court.
The video of the incident, which went viral on social media, also shows the officer in uniform going after the youth and slapping him.
Later, the police booked a case of assault, preventing a public servant from discharging his duty and creating nuisance in public.
Bhanu later told the police that he kissed the official as a mark of thanks as he was happy with the “good arrangements” during the procession.
