A breathtaking cricket field nestled within the lush greenery of Thrissur, Kerala, has captivated social media, with many mistaking its aerial view for a clearing in the Amazon rainforest.

The stunning footage showcases the Palappilly ground within the Harrisons Malayalam Plantation in Varandarappilly, shared by social media influencer Sreejith S.

Sreejith’s drone video, overlaid with the text "This is not Amazon rainforest," shows people playing cricket surrounded by an unbroken expanse of vibrant green.

The clip has exploded online, amassing over 37.6 million views and sparking amazement among users. Even locals who frequent the ground were stunned by the bird’s-eye perspective, describing it as a "foreign postcard" scene.

Social media reacts with awe

Comments poured in, with users calling it "absolutely breathtaking" and expressing their desire to play there. One user joked about retrieving lost balls from the surrounding "forest," highlighting the unique and immersive setting.

Sreejith S later thanked viewers for the overwhelming response: “This vid blew up, but definitely it’s not my favorite drop. Hoping my real gems get this kind of love someday! Insta algo’s wild! Huge, heartfelt thanks for all the support, kind words, and endless likes, comments and DMs — you all make this journey epic!”

Hidden gem in Kerala

The Palappilly ground, a five-acre rectangle carved into a 100-acre rubber estate, owes its unique beauty to towering trees, including six grand gulmohars lining its edges and a dense border of rubber trees.

The cricket field is accessed by a narrow, tree-lined road hidden from the sky, making it a secret sanctuary for the community.

The worn cricket pitch at its center stands as a testament to daily games and local tournaments.

Sanctuary for the local community

According to Matrabhumi.com, the Harrison Malayalam company established the ground decades ago for its plantation workers. Accessible via a hidden, tree-lined road, this "secret sanctuary" now serves the entire local community as a vital space for sports and gathering.

The ground’s unexpected symmetry and surrounding natural serenity have made it a viral sensation, proving that "God's Own Country" continues to unveil hidden gems.
