They thank Gulf News for raising awareness on a deceit that defrauded thousands
Dubai
Wisdom Jobs victims in the UAE have thanked Gulf News for uncovering the multi-million dollar global recruitment racket which led to a crackdown on the portal and the arrest of 14 of its staff members, including the CEO, Ajay Kolla, by Hyderabad Police on Friday.
Dubai-based Indian expatriate S. Sarthi, who had paid Dh6,400 to Wisdom Jobs in November 2018, after being deluded into believing that he had landed a job with a Dubai Government entity, said he was elated by the development. “Well done Gulf News, well done Hyderabad Police,” he said.
Another Dubai resident, Varun Gopinath, who had paid $490 (Dh1,800) after being interviewed by a woman impersonating Nestle’s HR head, said it was the best news he has heard in a long time.
‘Finally, brought to book’
“I am very happy. Of course, none of this would have been possible without Gulf News which blew the lid off the racket.”
Gurtej Singh from Dubai, who had lost Dh2,000 to a similar deceit, welcomed the news about the arrest, saying that the credit for the police action goes entirely to Gulf News. “Finally, they have been brought to book,” he said.
Similarly, Simon D’Costa, who was cheated out of $800, said while he may not get back his money, he was glad that the report in Gulf News has helped the police to bust the scam.
“Hopefully, this will put an end to the well-knit racket that has been going on for years,” he said.
