Hyderabad - Opposition Telugu Desam party today took the issue of the suicide of its senior leader Kodela Sivaprasad Rao to state governor Viswabhusan Harichandan. A delegation of party leaders led by the TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu met the governor in Vijaywada on Thursday, seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation. They alleged that Kodela was driven to suicide by the harassment and pressure of Jaganmohan Reddy government.

In a 13 page memorandum, the TDP listed several cases of harassment of its leaders by booking false cases ever since YSRCP came to power in the state four months ago. Alleging that the TDP leaders and workers were being targeted with false cases, Naidu told the governor, “from the DGP to the lowest level, the police force was violating the law”.

Kodela Sivaprasad Rao had ended his life by hanging himself at his residence in Hyderabad earlier this week after the state police filed a case against him of alleged theft of the furniture and other items from the state assembly when he was the Speaker.

“Since the poll results, 18 cases were filed against Kodela”, the TDP said. It listed former ministers S Chandrmohan Reddy, Achchan Naidu and other leaders such as N. Rajakumari and Ch. Prabhakar among the leaders against whom cases were booked by Jagan government.
