Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala – Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport on Friday, hailing it as a "symbol of new-age development." The landmark event marks the launch of India's first deepwater container transhipment port, developed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ).

Addressing the gathering in Thiruvananthapuram, PM Modi congratulated the people of Kerala and the nation, emphasizing the port's role in transforming India's maritime infrastructure and boosting trade efficiency. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor attended the event, underscoring the project's broad political and economic significance.

The Vizhinjam port is expected to enhance India's strategic shipping capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign ports for transhipment.
