Where tigers once prowled, now the paparazzi are poaching shots
Jaipur: The world's biggest tiger reserve that has 27 tigers after poachers killed a dozen in the last few years have never witnessed such a large fleet of limousines as they are seeing now.
Several years ago the visit of the former US President Bill Clinton to the tiger reserve brought international publicity to this ancient place.
Now the proposed wedding of the British comedian Russel Brand with the American pop star Katy Perry has again brought this small tourist destination into the spotlight.
Perry and Brand reached Ranthambhore on Wednesday night by road. They are with their entourage of 80 guests for their Hindu wedding scheduled for tomorrow.
Rajasthani dancers
The groom will arrive in a buggy pulled by a white horse and he will be escorted by Rajasthani dancers and elephant and camel riders.
"The Ranthambhore police have no idea about the proposed wedding and who all are coming. A private security agency has been hired by the hotel and resort management where the guests are staying.
"We have no clue about the celebrations. But we would not allow playing of musical instruments and blaring loudspeakers after ten in the night. After 10pm the celebrating parties will not be able to fire crackers or create sound that would disturb the peace in the area," said Dr Vishnu Kant, the police chief of Ranthambhore.
"We are bound by the Indian laws that prevent any playing of musical instruments or using loudspeakers after 10pm," he said.
