Dubai-based writer joins Rini in allegations against Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil
Malayalam actor and former journalist Rini Ann George has accused a youth leader from a major political party in Kerala of repeatedly sending her offensive messages.
She claimed the leader even invited her to a hotel and, when threatened with exposure, dared her to report him to his party.
Though Rini stopped short of naming the politician or the party, she alleged that the leader’s behaviour was well-known and that complaints from other women, including family members of senior politicians, had also been ignored.
“I want to ask which woman these politicians, who couldn’t protect their own wives and daughters, will protect?” she questioned.
Rini added that despite warnings, the leader continued to be favoured with opportunities within the party.
Explaining her decision to go public, Rini said she was prompted by similar accounts surfacing on social media. “I saw many women facing such issues but choosing silence. I thought of speaking for all of them,” she said.
Although Rini did not reveal any names, the BJP staged a protest march to the office of Palakkad Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, who also heads the Youth Congress in Kerala.
Party workers accused him of being the leader in question and demanded his resignation.
Amid the row, Dubai-based writer Honey Bhaskaran also came forward with allegations against Rahul. In a Facebook post, she said the MLA had repeatedly messaged her on social media.
Initially, the exchanges revolved around travel, but she alleged that his persistence soon crossed limits, forcing her to cut off contact.
Honey further claimed that Rahul later misrepresented their conversations among Youth Congress workers, portraying her in a negative light. “People also need to know the psycho in you who talks to women and then twists the conversations to degrade them,” she wrote.
She alleged that several women within the Youth Congress had raised similar complaints, but no action had been taken against him.
