Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti has unveiled a part of its manifesto for the coming assembly elections in the state and promised Rs3,016 (Dh151) per month unemployment allowance for the jobless youth.
TRS President and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao came out with fresh promises after a meeting of the manifesto committee in Hyderabad. He said that after coming to power the TRS government will study the models of unemployment allowance being implemented in various states and decide the modalities of its implementation including the eligibility criteria. “We will pay the allowance to all the unemployed youth irrespective of their numbers. From the comprehensive household survey we have an idea” he said.
KCR came out with another set of promise to help the state farmers stand on their own feet. He promised another round of waiver loans to the tune of Rs100,000 per farmer. The incentive under the Rythu Bandhu scheme will be increase from Rs4,000 to Rs5,000 per acre per crop and every farmer will get Rs10,000 for two crops per acre every year, he told the media.
He also promised that the age of eligibility for old age and other pensions will be brought down to 57 years and it will be increased to Rs2,016 per month.
The state has 4 million beneficiaries of pension schemes for the aged, single women, widows, differently-abled, beedi workers and toddy tappers. The increase in the amount will benefit all of them.
He also promised to increase the pension for differently-abled people to Rs3.016 per month.
Earlier the main opposition Congress party had also come out with many populist promises including hike in the social welfare pensions and payment of Rs500,000 for construction of houses to the families who own their own land.
Meanwhile the state Congress president N Uttam kumar Reddy has charged the caretaker Chief Minister with stealing the entire manifesto of his party as he was afraid of losing the elections
Reacting to the promises of KCR he said that copying of Congress manifesto was nothing but an admission that the TRS was losing the elections.
“It is highly ridiculous that both KCR and his son and minister K. Tarakarama Rao had described the promises of Congress party as unpractical. KTR had even claimed that the budget of entire South India would not be sufficient to fulfil the promises being made by the Congress party. However, sensing a humiliating defeat in next elections, KCR has copied all the promises and presenting them as TRS manifesto,” he told the media.
“Although the act of KCR is shameless, by copying our promises he admitted that Congress was speaking the tone of common people,” he said.
Before making any fake claims and tall promises, KCR should tender an unconditional apology to the farmers, Reddy said.
“As against the overall budgetary allocations of over Rs6.75 lakh crore in the last four-and-a-half years, not a single rupee was allocated to give bonus to farmers. More than 4,500 farmers committed suicide due to the negligence of TRS Government and not a single family got any assistance so far. With a clear defeat in sight, KCR is now shamelessly talking about farmers’ welfare and Market Intervention Fund by copying the term from Congress manifesto,” he said.
