Indian PM Narendra Modi declares Rs 25.1 million assets in nomination papers

Varanasi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who filed his nomination from the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency on Friday, has declared movable and immovable assets worth Rs25.1 million (Dh1.3 million).

As per the affidavit submitted by the Prime Minister, out of the Rs25.1 million, movable assets comprised Rs14.1 million and immovable assets were valued at Rs11 million.

As on March 31, 2019, Modi had Rs38,750 as cash in hand.

In the last five financial years, Modi had declared his annual income as Rs1.99 million (2018), Rs1.45 million (2017), Rs1.92 million (2016), Rs858,000 (2015) and Rs969,000 (2014).

The primary sources of Modi’s income are salary from the government and interest received from the banks.

As per the affidavit, the prime minister does not have any criminal charge against him.
