Dubai: This week, a photographer in the Indian state of Kerala, who was taking photos of a man who was presumed to be dead, luckily discovered that he was actually alive, and ended up saving the man's life. Indian Twitter users are sharing news reports about the “bizzare” incident that took place on Sunday.

Reportedly, the photographer named Tomy Thomas was called in by cops, in Kerala's Ernakulam district, to photograph the body of a “deceased man” named Sivadasan. He had been presumed dead due to lack of timely medical attention after receiving a blow to his head. Apparently, no one had gone too close to the body, fearing the spread of COVID-19, in case the man had contracted the disease.

The photographs were meant to serve as evidence during the investigation.

As Thomas started clicking pictures, he heard a low sound emanating from the body, and realised that the man is not dead after all. The startled photographer instantly informed the police who inspected the body.

According to news reports, the 45-year-old photographer who had done similar assignments for the police department for over two decades, said that he had to lean closer to the body to get a clear shot, due to lack of lighting in the room.

"A shiver ran down my spine as it hit me that the man was actually alive," he said, according to Indian news reports.

Twitter user @dramadhikari lauded the photographer: “Kudos to the alert photographer.”

Once the cops found that the man is alive and breathing, he was sent to the intensive care unit of a hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

Reportedly, Sivadasan, a resident of Palakkad, was found "dead" in his house by a relative. He had hit his head and fallen to the floor, but had managed to survive the blow, though onlookers found him in an unconscious state and presumed him to be dead.
