1st case registered amid allegations of 7 deaths during surgery in Damoh Hospital
Bhopal: A fake doctor in Damoh in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, who imposts himself as Dr N John Camm and allegedly performed multiple surgeries without requisite qualification, has reportedly been taken into police custody in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, police sources said.
Police officials, however, remained tight-lipped on the case or his arrest but said the investigation is going on.
District Collector Sudhir Kumar Kochar told the media in a televised conference that a three-member team of the National Human Rights Commission has reached Damoh, and held discussions with the administration, police officials and the relatives of the victims.
The first case has been registered amid allegations of seven deaths during heart surgery in Damoh Hospital. Dr Mukesh Jain, Chief Medical and Health Officer of the district, reached the Kotwali police station on Sunday, said an FIR has been lodged.
He said that the team is also meeting the victim’s family, and studying the documents related to the operation.
The commission’s team will stay till April 9, the district collector said, adding that all the available evidence has been furnished. The situation will become clear after the findings of the commission, he said.
Based on Dr Jain's report, a case has been registered and investigation launched against Dr. N John Camm, as prima facie, the crime has been found to have been committed, a police officer said.
