Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the first phase of Hyderabad Metro and also took a ride from Miyapur to Kukatpally.
The Prime Minister took the first ride accompanied by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekar Rao, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and other senior officials.
The 30 km-long stretch from Nagole to Miyapur has 24 stations covering several busy clusters and city landmarks — including the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Osmania University, Secunderabad Railway Station and major commercial hubs like Begumpet and Ameerpet.
The new line added another feather to the cap of Hyderabad city: This is the biggest infrastructure project in public private partnership (PPP) mode built at a cost of more than Rs140 billion (Dh7.97 billion).

Selfie perfect
The Prime Minister also unveiled the magnificent Metro Plaza adjacent to the Miyapur Metro station to mark the inauguration of the mass transport project.
The plaza, with 10 acres of green space around it, is a landmark by itself — a tourist spot and a selfie point for visitors, embodies the heritage of Hyderabad as well as wears a contemporary look.
It has three beautiful arches coming out of the water pond symbolising the three corridors. Each arch is designed as a rail track, signifying the future expansion of the project.
