Preliminary investigation suggests the motive is an old rivalry, says police official
Two young men were brutally stabbed to death in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh, sparking widespread outrage among their families and residents of Parasapani village, under the Keolari police station jurisdiction.
In a swift and angry response, agitated villagers set a local liquor shop on fire and blocked traffic on Mandla Road, demanding justice for the victims. The escalating tension prompted the immediate deployment of senior police officials to restore order, local media reported.
According to police reports, the duo had visited Keolari after being called to a temple by members of a local family. However, they unexpectedly encountered the accused at the site, where a violent altercation ensued.
The attackers, armed with knives, launched a fatal assault on the two men. The accused include a father and his son, police confirmed.
Locals rushed the critically injured victims to Keolari Hospital, but due to the severity of their wounds, they were referred to the District Hospital in Seoni. Tragically, Aman was declared dead on arrival, while Rupak succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward. A post-mortem was conducted in Seoni on Saturday.
Additional Superintendent of Police GD Sharma confirmed that four suspects were involved in the attack and are currently absconding. “Preliminary investigation suggests the motive is an old rivalry,” Sharma told local media.
A case has been registered under relevant sections, and police say the suspects have been identified. “They will be arrested soon and brought to justice,” Sharma assured.
