He confessed, saying he acted in rage after being scolded
New Delhi: In a chilling incident, a 42-year-old woman and her teenage son were found murdered inside their home in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar on Wednesday night, police said.
The victims, identified as Ruchika Sewani and her 14-year-old son Krish Sewani, were discovered after Ruchika’s husband, Kuldeep Sewani, alerted police when his calls went unanswered and he noticed blood stains on the door and nearby chairs. The house was locked from inside.
Police received the call around 9:43 pm and, upon forced entry, found the bodies of Ruchika and Krish inside the flat. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
A 24-year-old man named Mukesh, originally from Hajipur, Bihar, has been arrested in connection with the double murder of Ruchika Sewani and her teenage son in Delhi. Police said Mukesh had been working as a driver and shop assistant at the Sewani family's garment store in Lajpat Nagar and was living in nearby Amar Colony.
He was caught while attempting to flee the city and has reportedly confessed to the killings, claiming he was enraged after being scolded by Ruchika. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact motive behind the crime.
Earlier the same day, police arrested a man named Sumit (27) for allegedly murdering and burning his 19-year-old neighbour, Kapil Dahiya, in Delhi’s Narela area. The body was found near the Narela-Bawana flyover on June 29.
Sumit, during interrogation, confessed to the murder, claiming Dahiya had threatened him and his elder brother. He was reportedly assisted by accomplices.
Police investigations in both cases are ongoing.
