New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested two absconding assailants responsible for Wednesday attack on civil society activist Prashant Bhushan.

Police said they arrested Tejender Pal Singh Bagga and Vishnu Gupta. The duo were to be produced before the court in the afternoon.

Police had arrested one Inder Verma on Wednesday evening itself after he was overpowered by the crowd soon after the trio stormed into Bhushan's chamber inside Supreme Court and rained blows on him for his alleged statement favouring plebiscite in the strife-torn state Jammu and Kashmir.

"We have arrested both of them today (Thursday)," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ombir Singh Bishnoi said.

The duo were supposed to surrender at the Patiala House court at 11:30 hours, but were arrested by police while on their way to the court.

Bhushan, a close associate of anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, was beaten up while he was giving interview to a television channel. The channel crew filmed the incident in which Bhushan fell on the ground, his glasses fell down and his shirt was torned.

The arrested duo belongs to a little known outfit called the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena, which claimed responsibility for assault on Bhushan at a social networking site.

They also claimed responsibility for attacking separatist Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Shah Gilani and activist Arundhati Roy for their remarks on Kashmir in the past. They have been booked for trespass, criminal assault and criminal conspiracy.
