A doctor in the Indian city of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, who lives in ‘car quarantine’ to keep his family safe just won the internet after his photograph went viral last week on Twitter. Dr Sachin Nayak who works in JP Hospital in Bhopal, has been staying in his car in order to protect his family from getting infected with the novel coronavirus.

In a picture that was shared by the All India Radio’s Akashvani Samachar on April 7, Dr Nayak is seen reading a book on a mattress in his car. Reportedly, he lives with some basic necessities. Many Twitter users including the state’s Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan heaped praises on him and called him a hero.

In a tweet posted in Hindi, the minister wrote: “I and the entire state of Madhya Pradesh appreciate warriors like you who are fighting the war against #COVID19. If we move ahead with this resolve, we will be able to win this war sooner. Sachin ji, we salute your spirit."

As of today, April 12, there are 532 Coronavirus cases in Madhya Pradesh. No recoveries have been reported, 36 people have died.

Many hailed healthcare workers like Dr Nayak saying that he is among the many doctors who deal with COVID-19 positive patients all day and fear to take the virus home with them and infect their families. A hashtag #DilSe was also seen trending in the country.

In the last few weeks, people in India and around the globe have taken to Twitter to thank doctors, healthcare professionals and the police who have been the frontline soldiers in the war against COVID-19. People have expressed gratitude to the overworked, tired doctors battling the disease while struggling with the lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
