In a shocking incident, Asif Qureshi — cousin of Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi — was brutally murdered following a heated altercation over parking in the Bhogal area of south Delhi.

The incident occurred late on Thursday night near his residence on Church Lane, under the jurisdiction of Nizamuddin Police Station, according to Indian media reports.

According to Delhi Police, the 42-year-old victim was attacked after he asked two youths to move their scooter, which was blocking the entrance to his home.

The assailants backed off during the initial dispute, but issued a threat to come back. They later returned armed with a sharp iron poker and fatally assaulted Qureshi, stabbing him in the chest.

Police received an emergency call at around 10:30pm on Thursday. Officers found Qureshi seriously injured and bleeding heavily. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

An FIR (No. 233/25) has been registered under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused — Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18), both sons of Dinesh and residents of Church Lane — have been arrested. The murder weapon has also been recovered.

Confirming the details, a police official said: “One of the accused stabbed the victim in the chest with a sharp object, leading to his death. Investigations are ongoing.”

Asif Qureshi’s wife has alleged that the attack was premeditated. “This wasn’t just a scuffle. My husband was deliberately and conspiratorially murdered,” she told reporters.

The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with residents demanding tighter security and stricter enforcement against rising street violence.

Qureshi, son of Ilyas Qureshi, was a long-time resident of the area and well-regarded among neighbours.
