Dubai: A 33-year-old woman was brutally stabbed to death by her alleged lover in a hotel room in Bengaluru, Indian media reports said.

The victim, identified as Harini, and the accused, 25-year-old techie Yashas, were both residents of Kengeri, a western suburb of the city. The murder took place in an OYO hotel room in Poorna Prajna Layout on the night of June 6.

Police said the relationship had caused strain in Harini’s personal life. A mother of two, Harini had recently told Yashas she wanted to end the relationship.

According to DCP South, Lokesh B Jagalasar, “the woman wanted to end the friendship and was trying to distance herself from him. Out of anger and jealousy, the man stabbed her to death.”

Reports say Yashas stabbed Harini 17 times in a fit of rage. He has since been arrested, and a case has been registered at the Subramanyapura Police Station. The investigation is ongoing.

Beheading case

This incident comes just days after another shocking crime in the city, where a 28-year-old man allegedly beheaded his wife and carried her severed head to a police station in Bengaluru’s Anekal area.

The accused, identified as Shankar, reportedly killed his 26-year-old wife, Manasa, following a confrontation over her alleged extramarital affair. Police sources said the couple had moved into a rented house in Heelalige village recently. On June 3, Shankar returned home unexpectedly at night and allegedly found Manasa with another man. A dispute broke out, and she reportedly moved out of the house.

In the following days, Manasa is said to have returned multiple times, leading to continued conflict. On the night of the murder, she allegedly created another scene, which police believe pushed Shankar over the edge. He then allegedly beheaded her and surrendered at the Suryanagar police station, carrying the severed head.
