Patna: Even as Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad plans to move higher court to secure bail in a fodder scam case in which he was handed out 3.5 years imprisonment last week, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court is to announce judgement in yet another case later this month.
Court sources said hearing in another fodder scam case relating to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs320 million has been completed and the judgement in the case could be announced on January 24.
Further, another CBI court has also issued a production warrant against Prasad and eight other accused persons in another fodder scam case pending in Patna civil court. They are to be produced on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Prasad appeared in Ranchi court in three separate fodder scam cases. He was first presented in the court of special CBI judge SS Prasad in case number RC 68A/96 related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs20 million where judgement is due later this month.
Later, he appeared in the court of special CBI judge Shivpal Singh in case number RC38A/96 which is related to withdrawal of Rs39.7 million from the Dumka treasury. Finally, he appeared in the court of special CBI judge Pradeep Kumar in case number RC47A/96 related to withdrawal of Rs1.84 billion from Doranada treasury.
Reports said during the interaction with a CBI judge Justice Shivpal Singh in course of his production in the court, Prasad expressed his wish to relish “chura-dahi” (flattened rice mixed with curd) which is eaten during the prominent Hindu festival of Makar Sankranti that is celebrated on January 14 every year.
“If I was out on bail, I would have invited you too to enjoy the feast together,” Prasad reportedly told the judge to which the latter promised to make arrangement for that food for him in the jail too.
Prasad is currently lodged in the Ranchi-based Birsa Munda Central Jail of Jharkhand after being sentenced to three-and-a-half year of imprisonment in a fodder scam case last week. Prasad is now planning to move higher court in appeal and secure bail but as it looks like he may be in for another trouble even before he walks out of jail on bail.
