Andhra's Narayana College student walks out of classroom, jumps off third floor

Dubai: A first-year Narayana College student in Andhra Pradesh committed suicide after jumping from the third floor of the building. The incident was captured on a surveillance camera, news reports said.

The student walked out of the classroom at 10:15am, stood on the ledge and jumped off the third floor, NDTV said.

A surveillance camera footage shows the boy leaving the room when the class was in session. He walks towards the ledge and jumps. His classmates walk out of the room to see what happened.

The reason for the suicide is not known yet and an investigation is underway.

Narayana Coaching Colleges are a well-established network of educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh known for their rigorous academic programmes and focus on preparing students for competitive exams.

Narayana is particularly renowned for its coaching programs for engineering and medical entrance exams, such as the IIT-JEE, NEET, and other state-level competitive exams. It also offers foundation courses for students in grades 6-10.

While Narayana has been praised for its results-oriented approach, it has also faced criticism for its intense academic pressure on students, which some argue can lead to stress and burnout.
