Passengers face unexpected delay; replacement aircraft being arranged
Passengers aboard Air India flight AI2017 from Delhi to London faced an unexpected disruption on Thursday after the aircraft aborted its take-off due to a suspected technical issue.
In a statement, an Air India spokesperson said the cockpit crew decided to discontinue the take-off run in line with standard operating procedures, bringing the aircraft back to the bay for precautionary checks.
“Flight AI2017 operating from Delhi to London on 31 July returned to the bay due to a suspected technical issue. The cockpit crew decided to discontinue the take-off run following standard operating procedures and brought the aircraft back for precautionary checks,” the spokesperson stated.
To minimise further delays, Air India has confirmed that a replacement aircraft is being arranged to transport the affected passengers to London as soon as possible.
“Our ground staff is extending all support and care to the guests to minimise inconvenience caused due to this unexpected delay. At Air India, the safety and well-being of our passengers remain the top priority,” the spokesperson added.
Ground staff have been mobilised to assist and provide necessary support to the stranded passengers while arrangements are made for the alternative flight.
The airline has not confirmed the exact cause of the suspected technical issue but reiterated that safety remains paramount in all operational decisions.
