Fan proposes to Minnie Mouse, goes wrong in the best way

Dubai: Trouble with toons? Disney Land is supposed to be the happiest place on the planet, but that notion was put to the test when Mickey Mouse was left completely stunned after 21-year-old Johnny Jean proposed to Minnie Mouse at Walt Disney World, Orlando.

The whole antic was captured on video by Jean’s friend, Nairoby Sandoval, who uploaded the video on twitter, sending users into a frenzy. It got almost 4 million views on twitter and was retweeted 91,000 times.

In an interview with American news company Buzzfeed, Jean said: “Minnie was the last person we met [that day]. When we were walking up to her is when I got the idea to propose.”

In the video when Jean walks up to Minnie, someone in the background says “be a gentleman”.

Jean gives the happy mouse a hug, holds her hand and then goes down on one knee. Minnie blushes and Jean hugs her again. Suddenly everyone realises that Mickey Mouse has been standing on the side, watching the pair the whole time.

It was awkward. Even Goofy was nearby laughing at his friend’s plight.

Minnie called Mickey over and tried to make amends but Mickey walked off. While everyone in the background is laughing, the Disney icon comes back and gives Jean an “I’m watching you” gesture.

All in good humour though.

Some users “loved” the video and thought it was hilarious. Mickey’s reaction instantly became a meme and there were many jokes about it online.

@Bawfle said: “It was a perfect example of comedic timing.”

@Jonathanperez_p said: “This is my favourite video now.”

And @dee010166 said: “Always loved how Minnie acts so bashful.”

While others really felt for Mickey Mouse…

@Jls198623 tweeted: “You see the pain in Mickey’s eyes…”

@michaeljande19 tweeted the lyrics of a song and said: “Hello darkness my old friend…”

And @MyNameIsSwooshy echoed the same and said: “That’s the face of a broken man.”

While @KaidinLarson found Mickey’s “I’m watching you” gesture as being “iconic.”

According to reports, Jean said he was surprised the video would “blow up like it did”.

While Jean did apologise to Mickey at the end of the video, we hope all is well between man and mouse.
