Electrical wires and diesel posted the largest increase in material prices during April 2018 compared to the same month last year, according to a report by Statistics Centre, Abu Dhabi (SCAD) on WAM.

The average price of wires for apartments increased by 23.3 per cent in April 2018, diesel by 23.1 per cent and roofing materials by 9.4 per cent when compared to April 2017.

Meanwhile, the average prices of paints declined by 5.3 per cent, cement by 2.6 per cent and concrete by 0.5 per cent in April 2017 compared with the same period in the previous year.

On the other hand, the average prices of roofing materials’ increased by 7.2 per cent, bathroom set without accessories’ by 3.8 per cent and the concrete’ group by 2.3 per cent during April 2018 compared with the previous month in the same year.

The average price of tiles and marble fell by 2.4 per cent, power cables by 1.7 per cent and diesel by 1.2 per cent in April compared with March.

According to SCAD, the report presents an analysis of movements in the prices of the 21 main groups of materials and is of special significance for planning, decision support and policymaking in the construction activity and related sectors.
