NCM warns of strong winds up to 50 km/h and rough sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf
Dubai: The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast a significant drop in temperatures across the UAE today, accompanied by dusty to partly cloudy conditions and strong northwesterly winds.
Daytime highs are expected to range from 36°C to 40°C in the interior regions, 33°C to 37°C in coastal areas and islands, and 31°C to 36°C in mountainous regions. The drop follows an intense heat spike yesterday, when Fujairah International Airport recorded the country's highest temperature at 46°C at 2:50 pm.
Winds will be moderate to fresh, occasionally strengthening to 50 km/h, stirring blowing and suspended dust and sand, which may reduce visibility at times.
The NCM has also issued a marine warning for the Arabian Gulf, citing rough to very rough seas due to persistent northwesterly winds. Wave heights may reach up to 9 feet, with the advisory in effect until 12:00 pm on May 8. Authorities urge residents, especially seafarers, to exercise caution.
