Abu Dhabi: The UAE is bracing for a prolonged period of extreme summer weather starting today, Monday, August 11, lasting until August 24, according to the Storm Centre. Over these 14 days, the country is expected to witness intense heat, frequent dust storms, and elevated humidity levels, particularly along coastal areas.

Winds carrying airborne toxins are expected to blow primarily from the northeast, contributing to poor air quality and reduced visibility. Dust storms will be a regular occurrence, accompanied by a rise in non-rain-bearing clouds that will blanket the sky, intensifying the already soaring temperatures.

The period will witness the peak of the summer heat, with temperatures reaching their highest levels of the season. Meanwhile, humidity will increase significantly, adding to the discomfort, especially in coastal regions.

By the end of this stretch, southern and southeastern winds will start to take hold, bringing some relief. Temperatures are expected to moderate slightly, with evenings becoming noticeably cooler, offering some respite from the intense daytime heat.
