The one-of-a-kind initiative recognised 20 outstanding students from across Sharjah
Sharjah: In a joyful and proud atmosphere, Sharjah Police held a special ceremony to honour the top high school graduates of 2025, offering them a unique reward: a free driver’s licence through the ‘Licence of Excellence’ initiative.
The event, hosted by the Vehicles and Drivers Licencing Department, was attended by senior police officials including Brigadier General Jassim bin Hadda, Deputy Director General of Operations and Security Support, and Brigadier General Khalid Mohammed Al Kay, Director of the Licensing Department.
Key partners such as the Sharjah Driving Institute and Belhasa Driving Center also joined the celebration, showing strong support for the students' academic success.
This one-of-a-kind initiative — the first of its kind in the UAE — recognised 20 outstanding students from across Sharjah. The idea is simple yet powerful: reward hard work with something meaningful, while also encouraging responsibility and positive community values.
Families had the chance to learn more about the services and training offered by the participating centers. The event was warmly received by both students and parents, who saw it not just as a reward, but as motivation to keep striving for excellence.
Brigadier Al Kay said "This initiative reflects our shared goal — between the police, schools, and the community — to support and empower our youth,” he said. “When we reward excellence, we send a clear message that dedication and effort matter.”
Certificates of recognition were handed out in front of proud parents, who were also thanked for their support throughout the school year. Many students and families expressed their gratitude, saying the gesture gave them an extra push to keep aiming high.
Brigadier Al Kay also noted that this program is part of a wider effort by Sharjah Police to serve the community and invest in the next generation. Other initiatives like ‘Licence in One Day’ also aim to make life easier and more rewarding for young people.
