Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has initiated a comprehensive project to renew road markings at 89 locations across the city, as part of its 2025 Preventive Maintenance Programme.

The initiative spans highways, main roads, residential areas, and major intersections, reinforcing RTA’s ongoing efforts to uphold high safety standards and improve navigational clarity for road users.

The project includes the re-striping of 50 major roads including Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, First Al Khail Road, 2nd December Street, Al Khawaneej Street, Amman Street, Zabeel Street, and Al Manama Street. Additionally, 39 residential neighbourhoods such as Al Awir, Umm Hurair, Oud Al Muteena, Al Twar, Al Barsha, Al Sufouh, and Al Qusais Industrial Area are included in the scope of work.

Repainting

The renewal effort also involves repainting red surfacing in speed reduction zones along key corridors, updating box junction markings at critical intersections, and refurbishing markings for paid parking areas and traffic-calming devices like speed humps.

Abdulla Ali Lootah, Director of Roads and Facilities Maintenance at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said: “Renewing road markings is central to our 2025 Preventive Maintenance Plan. We aim to repaint more than 30,000 linear metres of markings to support traffic safety and enhance the overall quality of Dubai’s road infrastructure.”

Lootah added that RTA employs advanced technologies for cleaning, removing, and reapplying markings, using high-durability materials to extend the life of road signage. He also stressed that strict safety measures are in place to ensure smooth traffic flow during the implementation phase.
