Dubai: In line with the directives of the leadership to fast-track infrastructure projects and expand road capacity for smoother traffic flow across Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a major upgrade aimed at cutting travel time by 75 percent and doubling vehicle capacity along a key corridor.

The Al Safa Street Improvement Project spans 1,500 metres, running from the junction with Sheikh Zayed Road to the junction with Al Wasl Street. The development includes the construction of two bridges and two tunnels, with a combined length of 3,120 metres.

The project also involves widening existing surface roads, upgrading key intersections, and modernizing traffic signal systems to streamline flow through one of Dubai’s busiest areas.

Once completed, travel time along Al Safa Street will drop from 12 minutes to just 3, and capacity will increase from 6,000 to 12,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.

The project supports a high-profile district that includes major destinations such as City Walk and the Coca-Cola Arena, and plays host to a range of tourism, cultural, and sporting events year-round.
