Ajman Police deploy hi-tech patrol cars

New vehicles are equipped with advanced cameras connected to police operations room

Ajman: Ajman Police on Saturday introduced new patrol vehicles equipped with advanced security system to be used by traffic police.

The patrol vehicles were initially deployed on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road as it witnessed a number of traffic violations including speeding.

Lieutenant-Colonel Saif Abdullah Al Falasi, deputy director of Ajman Police’s Traffic Department, said these vehicles are equipped with advanced cameras connected to the police operations room and provide regular updates about road safety and traffic flow.

The cameras have multiple uses including ability to read car number plates [wanted vehicles and expired registration] and monitor traffic flow and catch traffic violators.

Lt-Colonel Al Falasi said the objective is to enhance safety on roads, reduce accidents and fatalities in addition to curb crimes and provide safety cover for residents. The project has been launched as per the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to make the UAE one of the safest countries in the world.
