Abu Dhabi Police have warned drivers that stopping in the middle of the road without justification will result in a Dh1,000 fine and six black points. The warning follows the release of footage showing a collision caused by such an incident.

The video, shared as part of the force’s "Your Comment" initiative in collaboration with the Monitoring and Control Center, highlights the dangers of sudden stops on busy roads and their potentially fatal consequences.

The surveillance footage captures a vehicle coming to a complete stop in the leftmost lane of a four-lane highway due to a mechanical issue with its hood.

While several cars managed to swerve away, one driver failed to react in time, crashing into the stationary vehicle in a high-impact collision.

In response, the Directorate General of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to avoid stopping in active lanes under any circumstances. Drivers experiencing breakdowns should move to the nearest exit or a designated safe area to prevent accidents.
