Tang encourages children to donate 30,000 toys to the less privileged
Dubai: In the hope of inspiring children to become socially conscious through what they love best — toys — Tang has launched a campaign to encourage children to make the Guinness World Record by donating 30,000 toys to those less privileged.
Tang, which is a powdered fruit beverage from Mondelez International, formally known as Kraft Foods, announced on Tuesday the start of its three-month Gulf region Kids Movement Campaign under the theme “Prep, Drink and Do Some Good”.
The toys donated by the children will be collected and given to charity organisation’s that include the Red Crescent in the UAE, ENSAN and KAFEL from Saudi Arabia and Dar Al Atta’a from Oman.
Talal Omar, from Guinness World Records, explained the criteria to be met in order to create the record of the ‘Largest Toy Donation’. “The company has to donate all the toys it has compiled in the last three months to charity in 24 hours, to make the record they have to compile a minimum of nine tons of toys as it will be measured through weight,” he said.
Vishal Tikku managing director for Mondelez International in the Middle East, said the campaign will be a step towards empowering children to do good deeds. “Tang has been sold in the GCC region since the 1950s. Lots of generations have grown up with tang so we want to add another dimension of socially conscious children by trying to instil the value of generosity in them.”
