The Ras Al Khaimah Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) has admitted 280 students out of over 300 applicants, but parents complained that their children were denied admission.

Some UAE national families said this is the first time the HCT has denied nationals admission even after passing the General Secondary Certificate Examination.

A senior HCT official said the largest number of nationals had been turned away this year. The college cannot accommodate the increasing number of students. The HCT maintains standards and will not compromise by admitting more students than it can handle.

The best students have been admitted, but there is a waiting list. If students do not register, others will selected. Students have to confirm enrolment on September 1.
