Dubai: They’re the first Intergalactic Pizza Devouring Squad and this is their backstory.
Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli happened to mention that he was craving pizzas on a space mission to the manager of the International Space Station manager, Kirk Shireman, at a live public event being relayed back to Earth.
Little did he expect that Shireman would send the team a make-your-own pizza kit through a re-supply ship.
Nespoli then tweeted the video of the first-ever pizza party in space, along with the caption: “When you really, really miss pizza... you CASUALLY mention it to the International @Space_Station Boss during a live public event. Thank you Kirk for surprising us with unexpectedly delicious pizzas! #VITAmission”
The astronauts seemed to be having fun spinning the pizzas across zero-gravity.
Nasa astronaut, Randy Bresnik, also posted a picture on Twitter, of five astronauts showing off their made-from-scratch pizzas, writing: “Flying Saucers of the edible kind. Pizza Pie created from scratch, the IPDS (Intergalactic Pizza Devouring Squad) says 12 thumbs up!”
