10,000 children receive Eidiya from Community Development Authority
Dubai: Dubai’s Eid Al Fitr celebrations go beyond the lighting up of the landmarks, roads and mosques.
To celebrate the spirit of the festival and the values of social cohesion and solidarity it promotes, authorities have distributed Eid gifts including cash to 10,000 children.
The heartwarming gesture is an initiative of the Community Development Authority (CDA) in cooperation with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD).
“This humanitarian initiative aims to bring joy to children's hearts and contribute to developing a supportive community environment rooted in its culture,” the authority said on social media.
The CDA and the Government of Dubai Media Office posted videos of the special Eid celebrations held at Ahmed Al Habbai Mosque in Al Khawaneej.
Eid gifts were handed over to 10,000 children from families benefiting from CDA’s services.
Officials were seen sharing Eid greetings and hugging some of the children who attended the celebrations before they were given a cash gift for Eid, which is traditionally known as Eidiya.
It is a beloved tradition in the UAE where adults give money or gifts to children as a way of celebrating the end of Ramadan.
The custom symbolises joy, generosity, and the spirit of giving, helping to spread happiness and strengthen family bonds. Eidiya is eagerly awaited by children, who look forward to receiving these special gifts as a reward for their patience and good behaviour during the fasting month. The tradition also fosters a sense of community, as neighbors and extended family members come together to share in the festive spirit.
