Public apprised of security plan to ensure smooth holidays
Sharjah: The General Command of Sharjah Police has confirmed its full preparedness to welcome Eid Al-Fitr by implementing a comprehensive security plan aimed at enhancing public safety and ensuring a high quality of life for the UAE community.
Brigadier General Omar Al Ghazal Al Shamsi, Acting Director General of the General Directorate of Operations and Security Support, stated that all relevant departments have completed their readiness in coordination with all strategic partners from local entities within the emirate.
He explained that the plan focuses on redistributing patrols based on precise statistical analysis and well-studied field assessments to enhance the effectiveness of security deployment and reinforce safety across the emirate. The plan also includes securing mosques and prayer areas where Eid prayers will be held, intensifying police presence in vital areas, tourist sites, and open markets to facilitate smooth traffic flow, reduce expected congestion, and minimise the likelihood of road accidents.
He pointed out that the operations centre works 24/7, ensuring the provision of top-class services and the prompt reception of calls and reports, with a focus on quick response and precise execution of tasks to maintain security and safety within the community.
Brigadier General Al Shamsi emphasised the importance of effective cooperation between community members and the police by adhering to guidelines and instructions that contribute to reinforcing security and enhancing overall road safety. He also stressed the need for parents to monitor their children’s behaviour, prevent them from using fireworks or engaging in risky activities such as leaning out of car windows or sunroofs, to ensure their safety and that of all road users.
He further highlighted the importance of staying fully attentive while driving and avoiding distractions, as such behaviour poses serious risks and could lead to severe accidents and injuries.
Additionally, the Acting Director General of the General Directorate of Operations and Security Support urged families planning to travel during the Eid holiday to take preventive measures to secure their homes. This includes properly locking doors and windows, avoiding leaving valuable items in easily accessible places, and informing trusted neighbors or relatives to keep an eye on the house during their absence to protect property and ensure peace of mind.
The public has been urged to call 999 for emergencies and critical situations and to contact 901 for inquiries related to Sharjah Police services to enhance emergency response efficiency and provide the highest level of service.
