Dubai: After heavy rains on Wednesday, Dubai International Airport (DXB) said there were operational disruptions and water logging in the airport but updated the status to say that flights were now arriving and departing with minimal disruption.

A Dubai Airports spokesperson said, "Further to earlier weather-related disruption, all flights from Dubai International (DXB) are now arriving and departing with minimal disruption. However due to significant flooding on the roads around the airport, we urge customers travelling from DXB today to allow for maximum additional time to get to the airport."

In an earlier statement to Gulf News, they said "Dubai International (DXB) is experiencing operational disruption and water logging in some parts of the facility due to the heavy rains this morning. The safety and comfort of our passengers is our top priority and Dubai Airports is working with service partners at DXB to normalise operations and minimise inconvenience to our customers.

We urge customers to check for updated flight information on our website www.dubaiairports.ae or websites of their respective airlines."

Wednesday morning saw heavy rains lash UAE leading to traffic congestions and flooding on smaller streets.

It is one of the busiest travel periods in the year with December 12 to December 20 being the days to watch for passengers.
