Officials probe eatery blaze

Dubai: Investigation continues by authorities following a New Year’s Eve blaze at a Jumeirah eatery.

The fire was intense enough that flames licked the night sky and could be seen throughout the Jumeirah area of Dubai.

The cause of the fire remains unknown pending further examination as investigators sift through the charred rubble, according to Dubai Civil Defence.

Dubai Civil Defence said that firefighters managed to put off the fire quickly.

“The restaurant was evacuated and no injures were reported,” said the official.

Fire trucks responded to the blaze after flames were first reported shortly after midnight.

The General Department for Forensic Sciences and Criminology at Dubai police is investigating the cause of the fire.

“Dubai police are investigating the cause of the fire and will estimate the loss in the fire,” the police official said.

The official said that a police report will be issued soon.
